Thursday, July 2, 2026 — Lago dei Caprioli, Val di Sole

After two days of high-altitude racing, the 5 Days Italy caravan moved into the shade of the pine forests surrounding Lago dei Caprioli for Stage 3, a change of scenery as welcome as it was demanding. The cooler, wooded hillside offered a different kind of beauty — and a very different navigational puzzle.

The Middle Distance course wound across a steep, forested hillside dense with contour detail, where holding the correct elevation and reading subtle ground shapes mattered just as much as physical effort.

In the Elite Men’s race, Filip Ossiansson (IFK Göteborg Orientering) navigated the tricky hillside terrain to victory in 43:46, staying composed through a string of demanding control points. Daniil Fomin (Russia) finished second in 44:49, and Tim Lundberg (OK Kåre) completed the podium in 46:15.

On the women’s side, Erika Källvik Leufvén (IFK Göteborg Orientering) won in 49:02 with a confident, well-read run through the forest. Kristýna Matyášová (OK Chrastava) took second place in 49:22, while Kamila Gregorova (OOB Kotlarka Praha) claimed third in 55:52.

With one more Middle Distance still to come at the very same lake tomorrow, the battle for the overall standings is far from settled.
