The shores of Lago dei Caprioli welcomed the field back on Friday for a second Middle Distance stage, with athletes now well into the rhythm of race week – and the general classification growing tighter with every passing day.Once again the course made full use of the pine-covered hillside, this time with a freshly set route.
In the Men Elite’s race, Tobias Alstad (Frol IL) took the win in 36:39, reading the terrain superbly to edge out a closely matched field. Lukáš Richtr (KOS Slavia Plzeň) finished second in 39:24, with Filip Ossiansson (IFK Göteborg Orientering) rounding out the podium in 39:46.
On the women’s side, Erika Källvik Leufvén (IFK Göteborg Orientering) crossed first in 42:00 after a controlled, intelligent run through the forest. Alva Björk (OK Pan-Kristianstad) placed second in 43:29, while Elsa Kaipe (OK Kåre) completed the top three in 43:31.
One stage remains. Tomorrow the action moves to the historic streets of Ossana for the Sprint finale that will decide the week’s final champions.
